What: a spoon of culture and nature and most importantly: get my mom even more excited about Asia than she already is

1. North Thailand
Since my last South East Asia trip I have been overwhelmed by the beautiful mountain scenery of Laos. Unfortunately we didn't have enough time to visit North Thailand. This time I will be travelling with my mom. We will start in Chiang Mai, then maybe Pai, Soppong and Mae Hong Son. No plans to stick to, no stress, just a lot of beautiful nature, culture and a lot of opportunities for us to practise our English.
2. Angkor Wat
It is a childhood dream of my mom to discover the secrets of one of the most impressive temple complex in the world. We are very keen on exploring the Buddhist and Hinduist art. So we will definitely need the 3 days pass - at least!
If we still have time (what I doubt), we might explore Bangkok, but actually we are both not that much into cities. My mom might take another week to explore an island in the South of Thailand.

2. Get settled in Jining, Shandong province, China
When: 18th of August till I'm done : )
What: I will be working as a teacher in Jining for a year
Shandong province has a lot of economical power and a lot of resources.
Jining is an industrial city in Shandong province and I was told, that there won't be many foreigners.
I'm sure, I will meet a lot of amazing people there. My tandem partner told me, Shandong people are extremely honest and and straight forward.
Also, there is a lot to see. For instance, Confucius is from Qufu, Shandong province. Also, the Mount Tai Shan, one of the five holy mountains in Taoism is located in this province. The traditional Chinese worldview links five beautiful mountains to a direction, North, South, West, East and Centre. Tai Shan is the Eastern mountain (Wikipedia 2013).
